Under the title Upbeat Explosion Music Culture St. Johann, in cooperation with Homebase, is organizing a day of Ska / Rocksteady / Punk in St. Johann i.T.

Starting at 5:00 PM, there will be a warm-up at Homebase with DJ set (Ska-Punk-Rocksteady) & fresh pizza & SKAmpari Soda.
The event continues at 7:30 PM at the Alte Gerberei with the supporting bands Rudi and the Scusis & Frau Doktor.

“Frau Doktor” – the name already sounds so much like the 90s that some rejoice and loudly chant, “Everything was better back then”! And that might actually be true, at least when it comes to “SKA PUNK SOUL.” Frau Doktor have been authentic for 30 years.

The band has not only played clubs, festivals, and street fairs – they have always been there where Ska was allowed to be more than just decoration. Concerts at demonstrations, cultural festivals with backbone, actions with opinion and music.

This is not a service; it is an invitation. To dance, to think, to be together. Ska is for them not a historical quote – but a living form of protest. With rhythm. And trumpet.

Frau Doktor have been among the most popular Ska bands in Germany for years. Those who have experienced them live know: These are not tired old stars, but a crew that knows how to get a pot boiling. Sound: danceable, direct, to the point.

Rudi and the Scusis

Five Scusis are looking for a bassist and find Rudi. So much for the name of the band. Behind it lies a deceptively simple recipe: Offbeat with backbeat. Solid bum-zack Rotown Ska, garnished with driving saxophones and funky basslines. The whole thing comes together with lyrics from real life, full of depth and humor.
