Maypole Festival of the Oberndorf Rural Youth

On this hike, we will explore what has survived from the Middle Ages in St. Johann.
After all, three castles once dominated the St. Johanner basin – one of them even served as a court seat for the county in the Leukental.
The bishops of Chiemsee chose the place as their pastoral residence, and the pious knights of Velben founded the hospital in Weitau, but their descendants eventually degenerated into dangerous bandits.
Good footwear and basic fitness are required.
