‘Born to Be Wild’ made the band Steppenwolf famous overnight and around the world.
On the border between mainstream and psychedelic underground, their song “Born to Be Wild” opened the cult film “Easy Rider” and became an anthem for an entire generation; their new, hard-hitting sound was a defining influence.
But the hard rockers’ roots lie not somewhere along the legendary Route 66, but actually in Germany.
