Event information

As the youngest son of a psychiatrist, Joachim grew up on the grounds of a gigantic psychiatric hospital, completed a challenging exchange year in the USA as well as his schooling, and is now about to begin his civil service when suddenly a miracle occurs. Accepted into the acting school in Munich, Joachim leaves everything behind and moves into his grandparents’ villa in Nymphenburg. Living with his grandmother, who, as a former actress, still displays eccentric diva-like behaviors, and his grandfather, a strict retired philosophy professor, the young man experiences an unusual student life.

While Joachim faces unforeseen difficulties at the acting school, he drowns his worries in the evenings with his grandparents on the sofa over red wine. Thus, he wrestles daily with the overwhelming pressures on stage and, on the sidelines, notices that his grandparents quietly have their own battles to fight.

Under the title “All the Dead Fly High,” German actor Joachim Meyerhoff (“Babylon Berlin”) has brought his family story to the stage and later published it as a novel. After the second part WANN WID ES ENDLICH SO, WIE ES NIE WAR has already been adapted into a film, ACH, DIESE LÜCKE, DIESE ENTSETZLICHE LÜCKE is set to follow as a screen adaptation of the third volume of the same name.
