Ska-J is an energetic ska band from Venice that has been captivating audiences since 2002 with a unique mix of ska, jazz, pop, and traditional Venetian sounds. The band is known not only for its musical diversity but also for its humorous lyrics and the use of the Venetian dialect.
Ska-J interprets both original pieces and covers in their unmistakable style. They combine Afro-Jamaican rhythms with jazzy elements—a rare connection known as Ska-Jazz or Jazz-Jamaica, making Ska-J one of the few active representatives of this genre.
The band sings in Italian, Venetian, Spanish, and English—and with each language, the sound changes. Jazz becomes blues, blues becomes ska—lively, versatile, and always danceable. With their strong regional character and captivating live performances, Ska-J has long achieved cult status—not just in Venice.
