Concert: Folk Café Phill Reynolds

The world-renowned feminist artists' collective Pussy Riot led by Maria "Masha" Alyokhina has developed a radical new version of their show Riot Days. In this bold version, it revolves around Maria's multiple arrests, her confrontation with Cossacks during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, and her personal journey after her escape from Russian prison or house arrest. It tells the heroic story of Alexey Navalny, his arrest, imprisonment, and murder in prison, as well as Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, over 400 performances of the latest version of Riot Days have taken place. These shows and the exhibitions by Pussy Riot have raised over €200,000 to support the Ukrainian children's hospital Okhmatdyt in Kyiv and have also supported political prisoners in Russia. Riot Days has been awarded numerous prizes, the creators of which have been honored with honorary doctorates.
Between their two performances at the Alte Gerberei in 2022 and 2023, Pussy Riot was a guest three times for several weeks as artists in residence in St. Johann.
In the new version of Riot Days we see:
Maria Alyokhina (author, producer, voice)
Taso Pletner (voice, flute)
Alina Petrova (electric violin, piano, electronics, drums, voice)
Kiryl Masheka (director, voice)
