Lourdesgrotte

One very special power place is the Lourdesgrotte on the Niederkaiser ridge, just beneath Gmail Chapel. On a rocky ledge you will come across the impressive statue of the Virgin Mary. This is a place for reflection and to switch off. In 1956 a St. Johann resident made a pilgrimage to Lourdes to find a cure for his illness. He promised Virgin Mary Mother of God that should he be healed, he would build a Lourdesgrotte in his homeland. And it did indeed happen. The area close to Gmail Chapel is a very special place and now serves as a place of contemplation for many hikers and pilgrims.
