GERMAN guided tour!

Cultural Treasure Teufelsgasse – the rock paintings in Kirchdorf in Tyrol with Dr. Hubert Ilsinger and Markus Nothegger

Myths and legends gave the 3.4 km long path, located among broken limestone rocks, its name. It leads between the flanks of the rugged rock walls, widens at some points to pathways, and usually runs at an angle in the west-east direction.

Between the stone gorges, dozens of rock painting sites could be identified within six passages on about 400 m2 of rock surfaces. The approximately 1300 individual rock carvings form the highest number of rock paintings in Tyrol. The timeframes, the stories they tell us, and above all the beauty of how written words become images make this cultural treasure a unique experience. Let us discover the rock paintings together!

After a roughly 60-minute ascent through picturesque landscapes, a roughly 2-hour exploration of the rock paintings will take us through the rock labyrinth. We will return to the meeting point via the Prostalm and alpine pastures.
