Gaisberg Joch

The starting point is Kirchberg or the Gaisberg lift - we start the hike at the top station of the Gaisberg lift. From here, we keep to the left and head uphill to the Bärstättalm. A difficult but very popular route leads up to the Kaiserblick and along the high trail to the Bärstättalm. Behind the hut, an alpine path leads to the summit cross. After crossing the Gaisbergjoch, there is a short, steep descent via the Nagillersteig. After this challenge, we reach the Harlassanger Chapel (Maria Heimsuchung). A relatively flat path leads back to the Bärstättalm and on to the Gaisberg chairlift. From here, you can either take the lift down into the valley or take the forest path/toboggan run downhill to the Alpengasthof Obergaisberg (only open in winter). The trail leads past the Kirchanger chapel back to Kirchberg. It would also be possible to descend via route 5a).   Alternatives: From the Kobingerhütte, you can either follow no. 7a) to Rettenbach or no. 7) to the KiWest valley station. From the Bärstättalm, follow route no. 6) to Seislboden in the Spertental valley.
