6. Brass band convention

The “Brixentaler Bergleuchten” is a traditional way of celebrating summer in the towns of Kirchberg in Tirol, Brixen im Thale, Westendorf, Hopfgarten and Itter: Thousands of burning torches light up the night and the surrounding mountains.
When dusk falls in Brixental Valley, spectators are treated to a flaming spectacle: over 50,000 torches now form impressive fire images on the mountain slopes of Brixental Valley, such as the music lyre, ski racers or the scythe and rake of our farmers. Every year, the “Bergleuchten” enchants locals and guests anew when the clubs, innkeepers and institutions from the Brixental Valley attach their symbols, coats of arms and lettering to the freshly mown “natural canvases”. In the evening, the works of art are lit and transform the valley and the mountains into a flickering starry sky. An attractive supporting program with mountain light festivals and lift openings in the evening round off this unique experience.
Every year, over 50,000 torchlights light up Brixental Valley, with lots of very different pictures and motifs on the mountain slopes.
